Hip Hop’s First Broadcast Network

All right everyone. I was busy checking out content online, and one thing led to another to the point I found a nice big, fat Easter Egg to share with you, but first thing’s first.

I was reading a press release about the Hip Hop Hall of Fame forming an alliance with the InterVision Network Corporation (IVNET) to provide international multimedia access to all end users. That is nothing special right? Everybody is going global with streaming content’s availability from the PC, Apple TV to cell phones, and the BBC is leading the way with IPTV access.

Broadband Streaming Multimedia Technology for Hip HopWhat is special about the Hip Hop Hall of Fame tapping into this technology is that its streaming content will consist of over 25 years of digitally remastered Hip Hop broadcasting! I hope they actually mean more than 30 years because Hip Hop’s roots are much deeper than the first music videos. This is a major move because our culture has not been available in its own absolute network. And from what I have seen on IVNET.tv this has the potential to become something special, culturally stimulating, and educational.

But let us keep a closer eye on this cultural yet corporate event. Will Hip Hop truly be broadcast to the masses in its cultural integrity, or will it become more of a massive white washing that it is already experiencing from BET, MTV, and every other pimp slapping network and media outlet. I have seen what IVNET’s venture with Hip Hop World TV has already become since it was recently launched in March 2008:

It is a path of hot, steamy garbage baking in the Summer sun.Hip Hop World TV

I am all for Hip Hop being broadcast to its people but make sure it is the real deal. I would hate to see just another media outlet showing black women as a bunch of mindless hos hour after hour. If the Hip Hop Hall of Fame is going to broadcast that noise then “that revolution will be tellin’ lies!” We want substance!

Here is a message to the HHHOF’s producer and creator, J.T. “J-Train” Thompson,

We will be watching you…

and so will the other Four Elements.

And now, about that Easter Egg I found to share with you.

IVNet.tv has a live Hip Hop Legends concert video available on its homepage for your nostalgic pleasure. The performances in this concert begins with Big Daddy Kane, to Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick, Whodini, Biz Markie, and it ends with a bang by MC Lyte. The concert’s host appears to be GrandMaster Caz with his briefly edited appearance. The crowd was jumping and warm as a family affair. Enjoy this estimated 613 MB download!
