photo46 Kung Fu Saturdays: Mad Monkey Kung FuDoes anyone remember this Shaw Brothers classic, Mad Monkey Kung Fu? I do! I remember seeing at the Thunderbird Drive-In Movie Theater, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as a double feature! It was probably around the year 1981! I remember this movie because it was very comedic due to its physical slapstick form of humor. If you favor physical comedies like the Three Stooges, then you will truly enjoy Mad Monkey Kung Fu!

But, wait a minute! This movie is not all fun and games. The storyline consists of a kung fu master, by the name of Chan, who gets hustled by a brothel-owning gangster forcing his sister into prostitution. To avoid retaliation, the gangster cripples Chan’s hands. This act of brutality degrades Chan into the role of a street entertainer who puts on shows with his pet monkey…until the opportunity for revenge comes knocking!

This movie’s style feels like a precursor to the careers of Jackie Chan and Stephen Chow. It is a lot of fun!

Now, shut your mouth; open your eyes; and enjoy this high quality feature presentation with subtitles! This is a must see, fun kung fu flick!

Mad Monkey Kung Fu

This movie consists of 13 sequential parts.
