Kung Fu Saturdays: Master Of The Flying Guillotine
Heads will fly in this unique hall of fame kung fu classic, Master of the Flying Guillotine (aka One Armed Boxer2)! This movie is directed by and stars Jimmy Wang Yu who returns in this sequel to One Armed Boxer. When I saw this joint, the Flying Guillotine was one of the most unique, memorable weapons I have ever seen in a kung fu movie. Let me just say the assassin in this movie has the permanent cure for dandruff!
Our hero, the One Armed Boxer, failed to lay low after defeating two lamas in the previous film. Unfortunately, he is tracked down by a Ching imperial assassin seeking vengeance for their deaths. One thing leads to another as Jimmy Wang Yu fights to survive in a tournament of fighters.
Get ready everybody as we introduce another legend of martial arts films lore! Protect your neck and enjoy the Master of the Flying Guillotine! Maybe one day soon we will back track to part one!
Master of the Flying Guillotine

These movies comes with a familiar, overused storyline and in the opening sequence we see the blind monk Fung (Kam Kang) receiving a note that two of his disciples have been killed at the hands of The One Armed Boxer (Jimmy Wang Yu) and he brings his fatal flying guillotine to get his revenge..caderea parului

The Kung Fu flicks from the 1970s through the mid 1980s did have overused themes pertaining to revenge and the big showdown finales. Old western movie plot-lines had a major influence in this era thanks to Chang Cheh. It was his formula because he was such a fan of “spaghetti westerns.” But not all Kung Fu movies were like this. Some had other themes and twists to the storytelling as well as levels of characterization, therefore no one can truly say they are all the same. Especially when it came to the choreography of these classics.
Today’s Kung Fu films are shot with an epic feel laced with Shakespearean drama and tragedies like Hero, House of Flying Daggers, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Of course we have the spoofing of Stephen Chow with his classics Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer which I truly advise people to watch with an open mind.
Q Ball has truly encouraged me and the crew to enjoy all of these films, and we are glad we did!
Thanks for reading, cousin!
