I am very excited right about now regarding the latest Hip Hop documentary Planet B-Boy directed by Benson Lee of Elephant Eye Films. It is the ultimate B-Boy battle film that sweeps us across three continents for the grand finale at the annual “Battle of the Year” finals in Germany. This stage is Hip Hop’s World Cup for B-Boyin’ (break dancing) with final competitors representing 18 nations through fierce elimination rounds in 23 different countries.

We will be following the trials and tribulations of 5 different crews from 4 different countries on their quest to Germany. Audiences will witness the internal conflicts of some of these dancers whom walk the tightrope of “art versus life” to live their B-Boy dreams as World Champions. The crews documented in the film are from Seoul, Korea (The Gamblerz and Last For One); Paris, France (Phase T); Las Vegas, USA (Knucklehead Zoo); and Osaka, Japan (Ichigeki). This is definitely a ride to be excited about! I am definitely geared up for this joint because the spirit of Hip Hop has always been global minded!

This movie is in limited release in almost every major metropolitan region in the United States. Make your way to http://www.planetbboy.com/ to see the latest schedule for local showings. I intend to be at the April 11, 2008 showing in South Beach, Miami as soon as I get the tickets. Expect a follow up to this article.

B-Boyin’ really needed this spotlight because it is essential to the renaissance of True School Hip Hop. Please support the real Hip Hop and get your tickets now at http://www.planetbboy.com/. This movie is essential so please show up while these brothers show out for us!
