crazyLegs Watch The Freshest Kids: History of the B Boy Free! The legs that compliments a Hip Hop DJs hands at a party belong to that of the B-Boy. As soon as the needle backspins at the percussion epitome of a song, the breakdown, the crowd will go into a frenzy, yet the B-Boy will be the one who will always flow a step further than the average dancer. Whether top rockin’, up rockin’, glidin’, struttin’, funk stylin’, or turning into a human gyroscope and creating a gravitational pull, the B-Boy is a visual, anatomical translation of the glory of Hip Hop music and culture and its world funk roots.

If it was not for the DJ and the B-Boy’s relationship, there would be no innovation of Hip Hop music and culture. There would be no MCs. Herbie Hancock would not have made Rockit. No Wild Style. No Beat Street. No Run DMC. No 8 Mile. Not even any of today’s wack ass rappers who claim Hip Hop. Nothing!

Only a different genre of culture and music stemming from funk, disco, rock, jazz, and other ethnic forms. Only a different kind of ghetto music that a suburban, sheltered fan base would soon fantasize about and water it down, and the gangs of New York may even still exist to this day because Hip Hop brought peace. What do you think?

The next time you meet a B-Boy or B-Girl, realize their passion and roots for Hip Hop is much deeper than the average head when they puts their bodies on the line. B-Boying requires dedication, fitness, tenacity, flexibility, creativity, heart, absolute rhythm, and “a case of the wants” just to learn the basic fundamentals, and it takes much more to become a polished battling crew. Which is why America’s Best Dance Crew has been dominated by B-Boys in the finals.

Although in ABDC Season 4, the B-Boys (Massive Monkeys, 3rd place) did not make the finale, the battle format appeared to be practically removed unlike the first three seasons. Other than that they would have won straight up like they did in season 1 (JabbaWockeez), 2 (Super Cr3w), and 3 (Quest Crew).

Moving forward, America’s Best Dance Crew is just another Viacom watered down, mainstream TV program due to the ratings increase. Go figure the inevitable.

Enjoy The Freshest Kids: History of the B-Boy. One of the most important films on B-Boying and Hip Hop culture period. When you are done, ask yourself if you’re neglecting our most beloved Hip Hop fanatics, and make sure you own a copy of this documentary as an essential DVD to your Hip Hop video collection. The bonus disc is friggin’ dope with the extras and Grandmaster Caz!
